Me like! I've been thinking about getting a microlight, but apparently the only class you can properly tinker with -withought having the aviation anthority check your plans, any modification, and pay for a check every year...is the sub 115KG class. There are some pretty cool machines in this though, and the above design was originally based on 3 ladders forming the main parts. Engines are 40 bhp and 40 kg 2 strokes...

I would love to make on of these (with a 9), but the rules make that expensive/impossible: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GulHMmrt-o

It would be great to fly to the IOM then have a bike while your there though!

I would've made it H**** Vomit

Back to Microlights, i used to have lessons and am still owed 4 more, they are great fun. Couldn't afford to own one though. The one i flew were a 500cc (i think) Rotax 2-stroke twin. The posh ones were Rotax flat-four 4-strokes around 1000cc i think.

I nearly killed me and the instructor on me last lesson, funny to look back on it.

Get one Fran Smile

Yeah I really, really liked the idea. It's probably a good thing I've slightly (although only slightly) gone off the idea.

If it were legal to have a flying 9R, I would, no question. How cool would it be to fly to the Isle of Man, for example? Or to Scotland -then in both cases have a proper fast bike when you get there.

But the UK regs exclude that completely. The single seat de-regluated scene seems the most fitting, but I dunno...not the same somehow. It would be really cool to build something and fly it around, I would like a 3 axis machine sometime.

When I've made my money, maybe...
